Volunteer With Us!
Literacy Council's staff is 98% volunteer. We rely on 80 to 100 volunteers each year to help us fulfill our mission.

 

Ways to Volunteer

  • Teach classes online or in-person

  • Help students enroll in classes 

  • Help with planning and organizing special events 

  • Write grants or help with fundraising events

  • Assist with technology equipment and software

  • Serve on the Board of Directors 

  • Have a skill not listed you can share? Tell us about it!

Commitments start at 30 minutes a week. You can volunteer from home or in-person, days or evenings. Most positions do not require a college degree or teaching certification. 

The only prerequisites to becoming a volunteer tutor are that you are:

  • Fluent in the English language

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Hold a high school diploma or GED

  • Patient, and willing to work with a diverse population
