IF YOU CAN READ THIS, YOU CAN CHANGE SOMEONE'S LIFE!

Volunteer With Us!
The Literacy Council relies on 80 to 100 volunteers to help us fulfill our mission.

Ways to Volunteer

  • Teach classes or tutor students

  • Help in the office with administrative tasks

  • Help with planning and organizing special events

  • Write grants or help with fundraising events

  • Assist with community awareness

  • Serve on the Board of Directors

  • Have a skill not listed you can share? Tell us about it!

Volunteer tutors are needed to teach adults to read, write, and speak English.  Tutors are also needed to help adults who did not finish high school earn a GED to greatly expand their work options.

The only prerequisites to becoming a volunteer tutor are that you are:

  • Fluent in the English language

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Hold a high school diploma or GED

  • Patient, and willing to work with a diverse population
